The U13 Delta United Diamonds finished in second place at the Tracy Orange Bowl tournament over Memorial Day weekend out of a field of 8 U13 Silver girls teams. During the weekend the Diamonds beat the Sunnyvale Extreme 2-0, California Odyssey 3-1 and tied the Monterey County Strikers 1-1 leading to the Finals on Monday morning vs Tracy United Soccer. Tracy United tied the game in the last two minutes after a drop ball restart caused by an injury in the penalty area to a Diamond player. The Diamonds lost the championship game in sudden death penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw in the game and a 3-3 draw in the first round of PKs. All matches were well contested and the host club Tracy Futbol Club did a nice job running the tournament, providing very nice fields and an overall good experience for the players and their families. Congratulations to the Delta United Diamonds on a great finish to their first tournament of the year! Coach Kevin Locklin

The Delta Diamonds finished first in their division at the 2012 Heritage Harvest Cup on October 27th & 28th. The weekend started with a 4-1 victory over the Piedmont Highlanders followed by a disappointing loss to the Petaluma United Tide. Saturday’s finish allowed the Diamonds to play in a semi-final game on Sunday morning against the first place team from the other bracket which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Diamonds over the Heritage Clash. The Diamonds earned the opportunity they were hoping for with a spot in Sunday’s division final against Dublin United Magic. The game was played under the lights at Diablo Valley College and after 60 hard fought minutes of soccer, the Delta United Diamonds prevailed with a 1-0 victory over Dublin and their first tournament title in 2012.

The Delta Diamonds took third place out of 12 teams in the U13 Girls division in the Shamrock Tournament in Dublin on August 11th & 12th. The Diamonds started the weekend defeating the Heritage Clash 4-2 in a morning match and then survived an afternoon match in the heat winning 2-0 against a fresh Mill Valley Red Rockers team. The Diamonds finished first in their bracket on Saturday which set up a Sunday morning semi-final match against the Pleasanton Rage. The game was very even throughout most of the match. Unfortunately the Rage were able to capitalize on two of their very few scoring opportunities while the Diamonds shot the ball everywhere all match except past the Rage’s keeper. Our 2-0 loss to the Rage set the Diamonds up against the Clovis Crossfire Silver Cedillo in an afternoon match for third place. The Diamonds dominated most of the match but neither team could find a way to score until second half PK’s for both teams left the score tied 1-1. Two five minute OT’s ensued with the Diamonds pulling out the victory on a PK in the last minutes of the match. Congratulations to the Delta Diamonds for finishing in third place and earning bronze medals!
